At Morgan's Martial Arts, we teach in a step by step program that helps in practice; we don't just do routines. We then put them all together and practice. Terry Clifford Morgan was born in Lodi, Ca in 1975. He spent his youth growing up in Lodi, Galt, and Stockton. After attending Galt High for 2 years and finishing the remaining 2 years at Toaky High, he moved to Portland, Oregon and attended Portland Community College and all those crazy Oregon State football games. He also joined the United States Navy at the age of 17 (Boats Mate).
Terry C. Morgan's martial art roots go all the way back to the young age of 12 when we would often box with his father. He took extra boxing instructions and sparred at the Stockton YMCA. Shortly after moving to Oregon, he took up Animal Style Gung Fu (Kung Fu) at the age of 19 at the Shaolin Internal Kung Fu School and System under Master Sifu Kimo Payne. Earned Sifu status in 1999 in Aloha, OR. He also trained and fought in Muay Thai kickboxing and MMA/Pankration (early style MMA).
Over the years, Terry C. Morgan has had the utmost honor training in various different arts such as boxing, gung fu, wing chun, jeet kune do, gi-less judo, muay thai, kickboxing, escrima, combat hapkido, tae kwon do, unarmed weapon fighting under amazing and gifted instructors such as Master Carlito Bonjoc, Grandmaster John Pellegrini, Master Toddy, Charles Gracie, and Sifu Chris Dickerson. He has also traded kung fu with ba gua, wu shu, chi-na, san sho, tiger/crane, mantis, and the Seattle Kung Fu Club.
After coming home to Lodi, Terry C. Morgan started to teach kids in the park for free in 2001 while buying gis at the local Goodwill and Salvation Army and founded Open Hand Kung Fu. He started teaching his own personal style of kung fu "Open Hand Kung Fu" out of his garage in 2003. He officially began teaching MMA in 2008 and in 2009, he founded mma4teenz at Cutting Edge Martial Arts in Lodi. He then took mma4teenz out on his own and opened Morgan's Martial Arts in early 2011 where he runs his mma4teenz.com and LodiMMA.com programs.
